Watertown Police seek the identity of a man who they suspect of breaking into several vehicles in town on the night of Sept. 21 and early on the morning of Sept. 22.
Five vehicles on four streets around Watertown were broken into and items were taken from all but one, according to Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor.
The first incident was on Irving Street where someone broke into an unlocked vehicle and took a wallet containing credit cards and $20 in cash. The credit cards were later used in Boston at Target, Home Depot and a Shell Station, O’Connor said. Police were able to get images from security at the stores to get images of the suspect (see above), whom they believe was working with another man during the break ins. They were seen in an older model, dark colored four-door car in security images, according to Watertown Police.
Two vehicles were broken into on Katherine Road. Fifteen dollars in cash was taken from one vehicle and the second vehicle was rummaged through but nothing was taken, O’Connor said.
The owner of a vehicle parked on Union Street said someone broke into her vehicle and stole a Kate Spade purse worth $300, O’Connor said. Nothing was in the purse.
The final break in occurred on Gay Road, O’Connor said, where someone broke into a vehicle and stole an HP laptop computer worth $700. There were no signs of forced entry.
O’Connor said that detectives believe that all five break ins are likely connected.
