The group hoping to bring the Summer Olympics to Boston will host a meeting near Watertown.

Community members and residents of Watertown, Belmont, Waltham, Newton, Allston, Brighton, Brookline and Needham are invited to participate in a conversation about the Boston 2024 bid on Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Boston College’s Robsham Theater. The meeting is hosted by Boston College, City of Newton, Town of Needham, Town of Watertown, Newton-Needham Chamber and Watertown-Belmont Chamber of Commerce.

“The Watertown-Belmont Chamber of Commerce is excited to co-host the Boston 2024 Community Meeting,” said Megan O’Halloran, Executive Director of the Watertown-Belmont Chamber of Commerce. “It will allow residents and local businesses in several communities to gain a better understanding of the full scope of the 2024 Olympics if Boston is awarded the summer games.”

The meeting is one of Boston 2024’s statewide community meeting series. Residents can hear from Boston 2024 leaders about the latest details surrounding the Olympic bid process and ask questions and share ideas.

“It’s reasonable to be both optimistic and skeptical about the impact the Olympics would have on Boston’s inner suburbs,” said Greg Reibman, president of the Newton-Needham Chamber. “But we’re delighted to be co-hosting this presentation by Boston 2024 in Newton so our local business owners and residents can learn and ask questions about their revised proposal.”

Among the Boston 2024 officials taking part will be: Nikko Mendoza, vice president of Engagement Strategy and External Affairs, Boston 2024; Kent Knight, vice president, Elkus Manfredi Architects, and Molly Schaus, Boston College graduate and two-time Olympian and Silver Medalist in women’s hockey.
