The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
May 28, 12:30 p.m.: Police stopped a vehicle for having an expired inspection sticker and the officer discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant. A 34-year-old Watertown man was arrested for for a warrant from Woburn District Court for violating a restraining order.
May 29, 6:24 p.m.: Employees from Pearle Vision spotted a man taking some eye glasses from the store at the Arsenal Project. They followed him until he was at the Dunkin Donuts in the mall. Police responded and saw a pair of glasses sticking out from the waist of his pants. Employees from Victoria’s Secret said they had spotted him taking two bottles of perfume from the store, worth $45 each. The 51-year-old homeless man was arrested for one count of shoplifting – a second offense, and a count of shoplifting over $100. He also had two warrants – one for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon from Roxbury District Court, and one for shoplifting from Boston District Court.
May 29, 1:34 p.m.: A Bancroft Street resident reported that someone had broken into his home and taken two computer monitors and two laptops. The man suspected it may have been his son. Police arrested the 18-year-old Watertown man for breaking and entering during the daytime and larceny over $250.
May 30, 4:38 p.m.: An officer patrolling in the parking lot of Home Depot ran the registration of a vehicle and found it had been revoked for a lack of insurance. The officer found the driver had a suspended license. The 27-year-old Watertown man was arrested for driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and not having an inspection sticker.
May 30, 10:49 p.m.: Police discovered a vehicle in the middle of the road of Fuller Road with the engine running. There was a male slumped behind the wheel who was asleep. It took officers a few minutes to wake him. He appeared to be lethargic. Police arrested the 27-year-old Watertown man on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs.
May 31, 2:53 p.m.: CVS employees recognized a man who had shoplifted from the store in the past who was back in the store. He was spotted taking a drink and walking out of the store. Police found he also had a warrant. The 65-year-old Boston man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and a warrant from Boston District Court for shoplifting.
Incidents
May 25, 12:56 p.m.: Someone broke into the office at First Parish Church and took a small amount of cash. Later that day, police were called back to the church when it was discovered an iPad was stolen from the preschool in the basement of the church.
May 25, 5:58 p.m.: A Chester Street resident reported that someone broke into his garage and took five paintings, and damaged another one. The stolen paintings were worth $1,500. The garage had been left unlocked.
May 25, 6:36 p.m.: A 33-year-old Newton man took a Macbook Air case from Target and walked out of the store without paying. The store will handle the incident internally.
May 26, 7:46 a.m.: A women went through the self checkout at the Stop & Shop on Watertown Street and paid for some items and put other items in her purse. The 36-year-old West Roxbury woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
May 28, 2:04 p.m.: Target security spotted two women taking items off the shelf and then leave the store without paying. A 19-year-old woman from Marlborough was caught with two pairs of women’s shoes and an 18-year-old woman from Hudson was caught with one pair of women’s shoes. Both were summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
May 30, 5:36 p.m.: Police were dispatched to Target where security had caught one woman shoplifting and a second was was in the parking lot in a vehicle. The woman caught in the store had taken merchandise worth $209.20 and the one in the car had two pairs of shoes worth $95.47. Both women were 17-year-olds from Arlington, and were summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
May 30, 9:21 p.m.: A bicycle was taken from a rack at 9 Galen Street. It was a Pacific mountain bike.
