Watertown Boys & Girls Club announced it is participating in the Macy’s Shop for a Cause Charity Challenge. This friendly competition has non-profit organizations go head to head to see who can raise the most money for their cause. The organization with the most dollars raised at the end of the competition (August 9) wins the grand prize of $100,000 from Macy’s, with runner-ups receiving large prizes as well. There are also added incentives throughout the competition encouraging organizations to meet weekly goals to earn cash prizes.
Watertown Boys & Girls Club’s goal is to raise $2,500 during the challenge. That amount would cover the cost of 100 annual Club memberships for children who might otherwise not be able to afford one.
While the annual membership cost of $25 may seem low to many, for the one-fourth of WBGC members who live below the poverty line, $25 is still too much.

Any gift, no matter the size, makes a huge difference for the youth of Watertown and the surrounding communities.

Watertown Boys & Girls Club will host their 40th Annual Stephen P. Mugar Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, August 14. The tournament, which will take place at the Oakley Country Club, raises more than $160,000 for the Club thanks to a generous matching gift from the Mugar Family.
This amount of money accounts for nearly a third of the organization’s annual operating revenue. Stephen P. Mugar was one of the original founding members of Watertown Boys & Girls Club and his children, Carolyn and David, continue to honor his legacy by sponsoring this event.
There are still open slots for individual golfers and foursomes to participate in the tournament. To register online, please visit bit.ly/WBGCGolf2017. Any individual or company interested in becoming a sponsor of the event should visit watertownbgc.org/special-events-2/ for more information.
