The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
July 10, 8 p.m.: An officer in Watertown Square spotted a vehicle run a red light turning from Mt. Auburn Street onto Charles River Road. When police pulled the driver he said he did not have a license with him, but further investigation revealed that he has not had a valid license since May 2007. The 55-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the charge of driving with a suspended license, a subsequent offense.
July 14, 2:40 a.m.: Police patrolling on Edward Road heard a disturbance coming from a home. When they investigated they discovered a woman involved had a warrant. The 59-year-old Watertown woman was arrested for the warrant from Waltham District Court for violating a harassment order.
July 16, 11:30 a.m.: Two customers at Panera Bread got into an argument and police were called. While speaking with the two people, police discovered one had an outstanding warrant. The 29-year-old man from Boston was arrested on the warrant from Waltham District Court for assault and battery.
Incidents
July 10, 10:50 a.m.: A minor accident occurred in the parking lot on Main Street. Police responded and during the investigation it was discovered one of the driver’s had a revoked license. The 84-year-old Newton man was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of driving with a revoked license.
July 10, 2:10 pm.: A shoplifter was stopped by security at Target. The woman was seen walking through the store taking clothing items and an Epson printer cartridge, put them in a bag and left the store without paying. She was stopped and had a total of $238.90 in items. The 53-year-old woman from Brighton was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of shoplifting by concealment.
July 10, 4:40 p.m.: An officer spotted a vehicle run a red light at Mt. Auburn and Main streets. After speaking to the driver, police determined he did not have a valid driver’s license. A 25-year-old Waltham man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a red light violation.
July 13, 11:30 a.m.: Officers investigating a minor accident at Church and Summer streets found that one of the drivers had a suspended license. The 38-year-old Watertown man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for driving with a suspended license and failure to yield.
July 13, 2 p.m.: Two suspected shoplifters were seen fleeing from CVS on Main Street. They had been seen taking a gift bag from a display and filling it with items and then left the store without paying. The items were worth $106.23. The suspects were described as a white female with a blonde ponytail and a white male wearing grey sweatpants and a black hooded sweatshirt. Police located a woman fitting the description in the area of Watertown Street near Galen Street. She had items reported missing from CVS and admitted to taking them from the store. She would not identify the man who also participated in the shoplifting. The 39-year-old Arlington woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting. Police are trying to identify the man.
July 14, 11 a.m.: Police were contacted by an official from Watertown High School that the school had received a threatening email, and police learned that a bomb threat had been made at all the Watertown Public Schools along with the Jewish Community Day School and St. Stephen’s Armenian School. The same day, similar threats were made in Newton and they had been made in Waltham and Belmont the previous day. Police met with Watertown Public School administrators to come up with an action plan. The schools were searched and nothing was found. School officials determined the schools were safe and sent out a letter to parents. Police are working with the State Fusion Center and other departments which received threats in hopes of identifying the source of threat.
July 14, 1:40 p.m.: A car that had been parked in the municipal lot behind CVS was scratched on both sides. The damage occurred between 4 and 7 p.m.
July 15, 10 a.m.: A Woodview Way resident reported that someone had broken into a trailer. The lock had been cut and a socket tool set worth $200 was taken. It is not clear when the theft occurred.
July 16, 5:50 a.m.: A man walking along Summer Street near Main Street spotted three men sitting in the lobby of the building at 20 Summer Street. After he passed by, two of the men approached the man from behind and hit him in the head. It appears the attack was made with a fist. The man was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. The suspects are described as three black males, and are also suspected to be involved in a shoplifting from CVS earlier that morning. July 16, 11:15 a.m.: A man was walking on Waverley Avenue near Orchard Street looking at his cell phone when another man walked by and swung his backpack and hit the man’s hands and phone. The two exchanged unpleasantries and the man with the phone threw some dirt and gravel at the other man. Police located the man with the backpack and both were advised they could seek charges in Waltham District Court.
