
The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
March 1: Two women were seen shoplifting at Nike. They took $730 worth of women’s clothing.
March 1: A woman was stopped at Nike for taking $292 worth of merchandise. Jeela Avanaki, 48 of Belmont, was arrested for larceny.
March 1: Two women walked through CVS on Mt. Auburn Street and took $500 in merchandise. They left without paying.
March 2: A woman took food items worth $200 from Target.
March 2: A vehicle parked in a lot on Pleasant Street was vandalized. The rear windshield was damaged and had a spidered crack. Police are investigating.
March 2: A resident received an email saying that 25 boxes were waiting to be picked up in Worcester. The resident was asked to send a $650 security deposit. The resident sent the money and went to pick up the item but was told here was no order.
March 3: A resident discovered someone filed a tax return in their name when trying to file their tax return. The resident was told the tax return was filed by someone in Salt Lake City.
March 3: A bank account was opened in the name of an Orchard Street resident and $13,000 was charged on cards linked to the account.
March 4: A person in a ski mask went into Target and took $54 worth of items.
March 4: A man and woman went into Target and put numerous items into a shopping carriage. They tried to leave and security stopped the woman, while the man left in a motor vehicle. They had taken $1,062 in merchandise. Police discovered the woman had two warrants. Vicki Uran, 44, of Chelsea, was arrested for shoplifting and conspiracy, along with the warrants for shoplifting: one from Medford District Court and one from Boston District Court. A warrant was issued for the man, Dana Tate, 53, of Brockton, for shoplifting, conspiracy, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation.
March 5: A woman took three hoodies priced at a total of $60 from Marshalls.
March 5: Target security recognized a man from previous shoplifting incidents who returned to the store. He had been trespassed the last time he was stopped. Robert Richards, 37, of Cambridge, was arrested for trespassing.
March 5: A Main Street resident reported that someone stole a Ukrainian flag from the house. It occurred between March 4 and 5.
March 6: A resident reported that a check had been intercepted and altered. It was placed in a mailbox in Watertown but had been cashed for $2,850 in Richmond, Virginia.
March 6: A Morse Street resident received a message telling them that they needed to verify they were a United States resident. The person was told to send $600 in gift cards to verify. The person sent the gift card information via Facebook and realized it was a scam.
March 6: A woman went into Nike and took $392 in items. She ran out of the store without paying.
