Zack Gosselin has already established a legacy of giving, and the 8-year-old’s latest effort is to help women be dressed and ready for the professional world.

During this campaign to help Worcester-based Dress for Success, Gosselin collected enough items to clothe about 50 women and raised $1,300 for the group, as well. One of the major sponsors of the drive was Watertown’s Monique’s Bath Showroom and MedeasHomes.com, run by Watertown’s Medea Palandjian.

“I just want to help people that are feeling down in the world and make them feel better,” Gosselin said.

Gosselin lives in Billerica, and enlisted the help of some members of the Shawseen Tech baseball team to help his drive. He met them during a baseball clinic.

“They helped spread the word and get clothes,” Gosselin said.

Recently he presented the donations to Dress for Success (see more in this Worcester Telegram article).

The idea for charitable work started about a year ago, said Gosselin’s father John of Waltham.

“It was kind of an organic thing,” John said. “We were sitting on the ice at Waterville Valley enjoying a memorable moment and the idea came to help others.”

His first effort was a Skate-A-Thon at BB&N, during which he raised $300, which he donated anonymously to the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting. The next year he raised $400 and presented to Walsh/Kennedy Memorial Fund in memory of the two Boston Firefighters killed in a Back Bay fire. Lt. Ed Walsh grew up in Watertown.

He also ran a Super Bowl Pool in which the winner got 20 percent of the pot and the rest went to charity.

Zack has had his share of media publicity. Along with coverage from local newspapers and media, he has been interviewed on WAAF’s The Hillman Morning Show and KISS 108’s Matty in the Morning.
