The latest, ongoing snow storm looks to be a biggie, and will impact Watertown residents this week.

The National Weather Service forecasts 8-16 inches of snow overnight and during the day Monday.

The Watertown Public Schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday. Town Hall, the Watertown Free Public Library and the Watertown Senior Center will be closed Monday.

The School Committee meeting has been rescheduled to Feb. 23, said Superintendent Jean Fitzgerald.

Also, Monday’s Watertown Youth Coalition annual meeting has been postponed to a later date.

The Department of Public Works reminds residents that the snow emergency and street parking ban is still in effect. Cars left on the street could be towed.

Also, trash/recycling pick up will be delayed by a day this week (Monday moves to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, and so on).

The DPW asks residents to help with snow removal, but to remember the town rules.

“Throwing snow or plowing snow on the street or public sidewalk is an ordinance violation and subject to a fine,” the DPW announcement reads. “We request every resident assist in clearing of fire hydrants and catch basins in your area. Also clearing of the sidewalks in front of your property will benefit all.”

The DPW also asks residents to check on elderly residents in your neighborhood.
