Watertown Field Hockey Rolls, Cheerleaders Place 3rd, Boys Soccer Hit the Road for First Round

The Watertown High School field hockey team rolled in the Round of 32 State Tournament game on Sunday.

The Raiders opened the 2024 MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament by defeating Falmouth 8-0 at Victory Field. Watertown senior Caroline Andrade scored three times, and senior Victoria Dicker scored twice in the win.

Next up for the second-seeded Raiders is a Round of 16 game against 15th seeded St. Mary’s. The game will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Victory Field. Watertown will look to continue its unbeaten streak, which currently stands at 93 games.

Cheerleading

Watertown’s cheerleaders placed third in their first competition of the year, the Panther Invitational in Marlborough.

“What an incredible performance today for getting on the mat for the first time this season! End the day with 3rd place at the Panther invitational!” the message said on the Watertown Cheerleading Instagram page.

Boys Soccer

The Raiders boys soccer team have a long road trip for the team’s Round of 32 game. The 17th seeded Watertown squad (8-9-3) will travel to Western Mass. to face 16th-seeded Belchertown (4-6-8).

The game will be played Monday at 6 p.m. The winner will likely face the top seed in the MIAA Div. 3 Tournament, Pope Francis of Springfield (15-0-3) which faces Nauset on Tuesday afternoon.
