Watertown High School field hockey players, from past and present, earned the highest recognition for their play – they were named All Americans.
Two members of this year’s Raiders team, which captured its sixth straight state championship, made the list of top high school players in the nation as named by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
Allie Doggett made the First Team Harrow Sports/NFHCA All-American Team. The senior scored 24 goals and added 18 assists this year, finishing her career at Watertown with 62 goals and 67 assists. She also was named to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic teams and was co-Div. 2 player of the year for the Globe. Next year she will play for Boston University.
Fellow Raider Emily Loprete was named a Harrow Sport/NFHCA Third Team All American. The Holy Cross-bound senior scored 20 goals and had 13 assists this year and finished her career with 66 goals and 42 assists. Loprete also made the Globe and Herald All-Scholastic teams and shared the Globe’s co-Div. 2 player of the year honor.
Former Raiders and current Stonehill College players Erika Kelly and Emily Sideris made the NCAA Div. 2 All-American teams.
Kelly, a junior, collected the North Region Player of the Year award along with being named a consensus Longstreth/NFHCA Division II First Team All-American. This is the second time she made the first team, and she scored 25 goals and six assists for the Skyhawks. She also made the NCAA Tournament All-Championship team for Stonehill which made the national semifinals. She also was named to synapsesports.com All-America First Team.
Sideris also made the synapsesports.com All-America First Team. She became the first Stonehill player to be named to three All-American teams when she was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division II All-America Second Team. The senior scored six goals and had four assists.
