Three Watertown High School students will continue their athletic career in college, after signing letters of intent this week.
Two field hockey players and a lacrosse player officially announced their college intentions this week.
Emily Loprete, an All-Scholastic field hockey player, signed to play at Holy Cross. Loprete is also an standout on the Raiders ice hockey team.
Fellow Raider field hockey player Allie Doggett signed to play at Boston University next year. She was also an All-Scholastic player, and plays lacrosse in the spring.
Anthony Busconi will take his sporting talent to Saint Anselm. He plays goalie for the Watertown High School ice hockey team and also stars for the lacrosse team.
New Trophy Case
Watertown High School has quite a haul of trophies with the success of the field hockey, boys’ basketball and other squads, but until recently the school did not have a place to showcase them.
That changed thanks to woodshop instructor Mark Boudreau and former student and WHS athlete Dante Flori. They crafted a large wood and glass trophy case that now hangs on the wall of the hallway next to the gymnasium.
Athletic Director Michael Lahiff praised the pair’s work and said he would love to seen another one so all the school’s state championship, section title and other trophies and memorabilia can be displayed.
Along with the silverware the display features a jacket from the 1977 Raiders football team, the last WHS football team to go undefeated.
