Stonehill College juniors and Watertown natives Lauren Giordano and Erika Kelly were named to the All-Tournament team for their performance in the NCAA Div. II semifinals.
Giordano, who graduated from Watertown High School in 2012, scored both goals for Stonehill it its 3-2 loss to LIU Post in the semifinal played on the campus of University of Louisville on Dec. 4. Kelly, another 2012 WHS grad, got the assist on the second goal.
Giordano finished second on the Skyhawks in scoring, with 30 points, 13 goals and four assists. She was a member of the second team All-Northeast-10 team. She has 23 goals and seven assists in her career.
Kelly lead Stonehill in scoring (53 points) and goals (25), and her six assists rank second on the team. She has the most career goals and points in team history and the top and second highest season totals – last year and this year respectively. This year, Kelly was named to the first All-NorthEast-10 team. Last year she was a consensus first team All-American.
Stonehill finished 17-4 and won the program’s second Northeast-10 Tournament. The Skyhawks made the NCAA field hockey tournament for the sixth time and the final four for the fourth time.
