Police seek to identify a man who they believe has been going around town taking packages soon after they were delivered to homes in Watertown.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-8-inches tall, with a beard. Three time over the past week packages were taken by a man fitting that description, said Watertown Police Lt. Ken Swift.
On July 25 at 10 a.m., a woman on Emerson Road heard her dog barking and she looked out the window to see a man talking to a FedEx driver.
“She realized it was her package that was being given to the man by the FedEx driver,” Swift said. “She yelled at the driver not to give him the package because it was hers, but the man took the package before he could take it back.”
The man got into a blue minivan with out of state plates and left the area. The package contained a Verizon wifi hotspot valued at $400. Police believe the man appeared to have information about the package when he took it.
The same day at 5:15 p.m., a Frank Street resident got notification from FedEx that an iPad she had ordered had been delivered. When she got home at 5 p.m. she cold not find the package.
“One of the neighbors said they saw a car stopped with a woman and a man inside, and the man got out and grabbed the package,” Swift said. “We believe it is the same suspect as Emerson.”
A Purvis Street resident realized that a package containing a Samsung Galaxy had been delivered on July 25, but she never received the package. On July 29, she told police that she looked on her home security camera and saw a man take the package.
“Three minutes after delivery a Hispanic male wearing a blue vest, he looked like an Amazon employee, in a light blue minivan took the package,” Swift said.
The police should put tempting packages (fake computers, TVs, electronics) that contain a GPS tracker on porches.
When moved/stolen, the package can immediately be traced to the thief, and he can be arrested.
Word will get around and such thefts will be reduced.
But what I hear is that the state’s judges will simply release the thief or give him a slap on the wrist. After all this is Masssachusetts.
This happens because of the weak politicians (governor, AG, reps, senators, local officials) the majority of people vote for.
Whose fault is that?
Don’t believe everything you “hear”.
Ok. Please explain to all of us the real reason.

Charlie, the suspect is described as Hispanic. Before taking that identification as given it might be useful to know how it was made. Thanks.
