The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrest
Feb. 8, 6:50 p.m.: Security observed a woman try to walk out of Target with a hand basket full of unpaid merchandise. When security stopped her, they found she was also holding women’s clothing and a handbag. She also had six Fitbits and a pedometer. In total, she had $722.27 worth of merchandise. She said that she took the Fitbits for her sister’s birthday. The 31-year-old East Boston woman was arrested on charges of larceny over $250 and shoplifting over $100.
Incidents
Feb. 6, 4:10 p.m.: A Repton Circle resident discovered that someone had taken items from her storage bin. Missing were Christmas ornaments worth $500, the box they were stored in and a Swiss Army suitcase worth $250. She believes the break in occurred between October and November of 2016. there were no signs of forced entry.
Feb. 7, 12:20 p.m.: A Wilmot Street resident reported that someone ripped down a rainbow flag that was hanging on his front port. Later he discovered the flag hanging from a tree on Highland Avenue.
Feb. 7, 2:10 p.m.: A man was seen in the electronics department in Target removing merchandise off the shelf. Security saw him take a Fitbit Watch and try to open it, but he couldn’t do so. He then went to another section of the store and grabbed some scissors before returning to the electronics section and cut a security device off the Fitbit package. Security stopped the man. The 27-year-old Brighton man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting over $100.
Feb. 7, 3 p.m.: A woman reported that her credit card was missing and had been used without her consent. She last saw it at CVS on Main Street the previous day. She called her bank to report the card missing and she was told it had been used at the Citibank ATM on Mt. Auburn Street and $200 was withdrawn. Police are investigating.
Feb. 7, 7 p.m.: A woman reported a road rage incident on Pleasant Street. She stopped to turn into the Bank of America ATM. A vehicle behind her began honking. She pull up to let people by and a man pulled up beside her, began to yell and threw something at her. She deflected it so she did not know what it was, but she got the license plate. Police located the man and spoke to him. He said He said she was not letting people by. He first denied throwing anything at the woman, but later said he may have thrown a piece of bread that he had been eating.
Feb. 8, 2:30 p.m.: An employee at Tufts Health Plan had her purse taken from her desk. She reported the theft to security, which is investigating the incident. Inside the purse was cash, credit cards, a cell phone and glasses.
Feb. 12, 5:30 a.m.:Employees at Starbucks arrived to find the glass side door had been shattered, and they found the lid of a trash barrel inside the store. Nothing else inside was disturbed.
Feb. 12, 10:45 a.m.: The rear door at the H&K Insurance building on Main Street was smashed. Employees believed it happened between Feb. 11 and Feb. 12. It did not appear that anyone had entered the building, and they could not locate the object which broke the window.
Feb. 12, 2:30 p.m.: A package that was supposed to be delivered to an address on Arlington Street could not be located. The package contained clothing valued at $174.19.
