It’s the summer solstice this weekend, and the weather has turned into summer heat so fast! Enjoy Greek food, music, dance and more during the Grecian Festival. Mt. Auburn Cemetery has a full day of events to celebrate the solstice. Go sit in the shade of one of their majestic trees and contemplate what this summer will mean to you. There is an enticing backyard concert on Saturday, and a play based on a Bengali novel at the Mosesian Center. The Tipsy Tea party at the Commander’s Mansion must not be missed! Most important, perhaps, is that there is a holiday this weekend that you may not know about yet, National Onion Rings Day, celebrated at Donohue’s. It’s going on my calendar. (It’s also national kissing day. Not a bad one to celebrate either!)

The 2024 Watertown Grecian Festival will take place at the Taxiarchae-Archangels Greek Orthodox Church on June 21-23. This year’s festival marks 50 years. The event features food, music, dancing, church tours, souvenirs and more.

Orkney (Scotland) born fiddler Louise Bichan and Indiana (USA) mandolinist Ethan Setiawan present a collaboration and meeting of their musical worlds in Hildaland. A path steeped in the fiddle traditions of their respective sides of the Atlantic, the journey taken wends through Scottish, oldtime, and Swedish inspired music intertwined with contemporary compositions. Bichan’s fiddle is a melodic foil to Setiawan’s counterpoint and harmonic depth, and the two weave in and out seamlessly.

A TIPSY TEA PARTY

Come indulge in some brunch bites from eight local eateries, do some sipping at the tea station,
have your tarot cards read, enjoy the drag entertainment, and if getting tipsy is your cup of tea,
then join in the gin tasting. There will be a cash bar as well should you prefer to venture beyond
tea and gin. The house is a beautiful historic site for a party, and the grounds have extensive
gardens to wander around while tipsily drinking your tea.

SETU PRESENTS HUSH, HUSH

Hush, Hush is based on the original Bengali novel Chhadmabesi and the super hit Hindi
Bollywood film Chupke Chupke. It s a light-hearted comedy in English women into middle-class Indian social fabric. Adapted for the state by Subrata Das, this production of SETU features a double cast across five performances. Seating is General Admission; tickets are $30 each.
