The following announcement was provided by the Mosesian Center for the Arts:
Mosesian Center for the Arts will hold its annual fundraising benefit on Tuesday, May 21. Themed OUR STORIES, this year’s event will celebrate the stories and talents of several people who have been involved with the arts center in its nearly 22 history.
Honorees of the evening’s Mosesian Awards include critically acclaimed novelist and screenwriter Tom Perrotta and the team behind the Earfull Series: Jen Trynin, Tim Huggins, Michael Creamer, and Jon Lupfer. The entertainment for the evening features Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses/The Breeders/Belly) and musician and New York Times best-selling author Bill Janovitz (Buffalo Tom). Entertainment will also include a performance from Mosesian Arts’ upcoming Watertown Children’s Theatre production of Fiddler on the Roof Jr. Tickets include international hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, awards and entertainment on the main stage, and a selection of desserts. Guests will also be among the first to see the accompanying gallery exhibition, Entwined: Visual and Textual Narratives.
According to Executive Director Darren Farrington, the theme recognizes the importance of community to the establishment and endurance of Mosesian Arts. “The building and its history are impressive, the programming has been diverse and outstanding, but the truly remarkable story of this arts center is its people.” At the event, Farrington will encourage attendees to share stories about their first involvement with the arts center, about a favorite engagement, or about how arts programming has changed their lives.
Event proceeds will support exceptional programs in performing and visual arts education; free art exhibitions, artist talks, and opening receptions; and diverse events on MCA’s stages and in the community.
Individual tickets and sponsorship packages are available at www.mosesianarts.org. The reception begins at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, May 21. Awards and entertainment will begin at 7:30 PM.
