The Raiders continued their tournament success this week with both the boy’s soccer and field hockey teams moving on.
The boy’s soccer team defeated Wakefield on Monday evening with a game-winning goal by Roman Davis. He also had an assist on the first goal, according to the Boston Globe report.
The past two years, Watertown (9-5-5) made it to the state semifinals (and made it to the state final two years ag0). The team faces a tough challenge in their next game when the Raiders take on the top seed in the North Section Div. 3 tournament, North Reading (12-3-3) on Thursday at 5 p.m. The section quarterfinal will played in North Reading.
Field Hockey
The Raiders continue their quest for their sixth straight state championship on Wednesday night when they take on Tewksbury at 5:30 p.m. at Reading Memorial High School.
Watertown is undefeated at 19-0 and has an unbeaten streak of 134 games. Tewksbury (10-10) came is as the 13th and last seed in the North Section Div. 2 tournament, but they beat fourth seed Marblehead and fifth-seed Triton – both games went to overtime.
Cross Country
The Raiders ran in the Middlesex League Meet at the end of October, finishing fifth in the girls’ competition and the boys finished 10th.
Junior Katherine Tolman finished highest for the Raiders. Her time of 16:22.2o on the 2.5 mile course at Woburn Country Club earned her 18th place. Senior Tina Touri finished 23rd and freshman Elizabeth Powderly came in 26th. (See full meet results here).
Watertown’s best boys’ runner was junior Amin Touri who came in 18th with a time of 13:42.10 at Woburn CC. Senior Prosper Lubegn finished 48th.
At the MSTCA Coaches Invitational at Wrentham Developmental Center Amit Touri finished 22 in the Div. 2 race with a time of 17:23.24 in the 5000 meter race. The boys finished 23rd in the team competition.
Tina Touri finished 27th in the girls’ race at the MSTCA meet.
The MIAA East Section meet will be held on Nov. 8 at the Wrentham Developmental Center at the All-State Meet is on Nov. 15 at Franklin Park.
