The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Jan. 9, 5:10 p.m.: Target security spotted a man they recognized from previous incidents back in the store with a juvenile. The juvenile took clothing off the shelves and the pair walked toward the registers and put the items in a Target shopping bag. They had $25 in merchandise. When they tried to leave, security stopped the pair and the man, an 18-year-old Framingham man, and the juvenile were both arrested for shoplifting.
Jan. 12, 3:43 a.m.: A disturbance was reported at a Pleasant Street apartment building. When police arrived they saw a crowd around a Toyota that was backing up over a curb and driving forward over it. This happened twice more and on the third time the vehicle nearly struck the police officer. When the officer spoke with the woman driving the car, she exhibited signs of intoxication. The woman began yelling profanities at the officer and refused to cooperate, including giving her driver’s license to the officer. She was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where she admitted to drinking alcohol before driving. Police discovered the woman’s license was suspended. The 22-year-old Waltham woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest and refusing to identify herself.
Jan. 13, 8 p.m.: Watertown Police were contacted by Quincy authorities to alert them that a man wanted in Quincy was in town. Watertown police went to his home on Arsenal Street and arrested the man. When they got him to the station they found heroin on him. He was wanted on a number of warrants: the first from Malden District Court for shoplifting, another from Boston District Court for traffic offenses, and the third from Quincy District Court for assault with a dangerous weapon and attempting to commit a crime. The man was wanted for allegedly holding up a Chipotle in Quincy using a hypodermic needle. The 33-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant charges and possession of a Class A Drug.
Jan. 15, 10:30 p.m.: A man went into Target and took an electric razor and two cell phone cases and walked out of the store without paying. The items were worth $164.93. He was taken into custody and when he was at the Police Station officers found he had some prescription pills without a prescription. The 51-year-old Waltham man was arrested on charges of shoplifting and and possession of a Class C Drug.
Incidents
Jan. 11, 8 a.m.: A tire, rim and hubcap were taken from a truck at Watertown Towing on North Beacon Street. The wheel was one of the rear dual tires from a flatbed truck, and the combined total value is $3,575.
Jan. 12, 4:55 p.m.: A man reported that he had been the victim of larceny by check. He had sold some outdoor products for $770.31, and the buyer paid by check. When the man tried to cash the check, however, it was cancelled for insufficient funds. Police tried multiple times to contact the man who wrote the check, unsuccessfully. A 61-year-old man from Salisbury was summonsed to Waltham District Court for larceny by check over $250.
Jan. 14, 8 a.m.: A Boylston Street resident found a backpack on the rear of his driveway and contacted police. Officers discovered the backpack was taken from a vehicle at another home on the street. The owner did not know the vehicle had been broken into, and when he looked in the vehicle he realized an Apple iPad was also missing.
Jan. 15, 3:20 p.m.: A man took four DVDs of the shelf at Target and put them inside the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt. He then grabbed two BlueRay discs and paid for them but tried to leave without paying for the DVDs, which were worth $47.99. The 26-year-old man from Woburn was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
