The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Jan., 2 5:40 a.m.: A man was spotted sleeping in his vehicle in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven in Coolidge Square. Police officers found a black Nissan SUV with its engine running in the parking lot and a man reclined in the driver’s seat who appeared to be asleep. Officers awoke the man and detected signs of intoxication when they spoke with him. The man admitted to drinking alcohol before driving . He took and failed three field sobriety tests. The 29-year-old Watertown man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Jan. 3, 5:10 p.m.: Target security spotted a woman in the electronics department take several items and put them in her handbag. She tried to walk out without paying. She had a Samsung Note and five pairs of headphones, worth a total of $301.17. The 31-year-old Cambridge woman was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250.
Jan. 5, 10:56 p.m.: Two women were detained by security at Target after they were seen taking numerous items and putting them in a comforter they were purchasing. One put one Fitbit on her wrist and a second in her wallet. Inside the comforter they hid two watches and three pieces of unidentified electronics, a wallet and clothing. In total the pair had $910.73. Two 18-year-old Newton women were arrested and each faces a charge of larceny over $250.
Incidents
Jan. 4, 6:30 p.m.: Police went to Quimby Street for a disturbance, and when they got there they found woman who had previously had been trespassed off the property. The 38-year-old Watertown woman received a court summons for trespassing.
Jan. 4, 8:15 p.m.: A woman was seen taking numerous items at Target and put them in a bag. She had clothing and cosmetics that were worth $199.41. Store security also recognized her from a previous incident. The 25-year-old Lexington woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting over $100.
Jan. 5, 3 p.m.: A cab driver reported that a man he dropped off on Lowell Avenue ran away without paying. He picked up the man in Boston and was owed $18. The man was seen running through backyards and was last seen on the back porch of a home on Waverley Avenue. Police investigated and found the man who lived at that address had involved in a previous taxi fare evasion. The 51-year-old Watertown man was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of taxi fare evasion.
Jan. 6, 8:30 p.m.: A Grant Avenue resident reported that someone had sprayed Silly String all over the resident’s vehicle. There was no permanent damage to the vehicle.
Jan. 7, 11 p.m.: A man came into the Sunoco Gas Station on Galen Street and demanded money from the clerk and showed a gun. The suspect wore a hood, a mask and was dressed in black. He pulled out a handgun, put it on the counter and told the clerk to “give him all the money.” The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect ran away. He was last seen heading east on Williams Street. The suspect is described as a male in his early 20s about 5-foot-6 inches tall. There were no injuries. Police are investigating.
Jan. 9, 11 a.m.: Target security recognized a man from a previous shoplifting incident. On this day, they saw him go to the cell phone department and take a cell phone case and put it on his phone, and then hid a screen protector in his shoe. The items were worth a total of $85. The 31-year-old Brighton man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
