The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Dec. 8, 11:20 p.m.: A passerby called police after spotting a man sleeping in a vehicle on Main Street and Waverley Avenue. When an officer approached, he saw the man sleeping with his head on the center console, and after a few attempts he was able to wake the man. The man showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking alcohol before driving. He failed four field sobriety tests. The 29-year-old Holden man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Dec. 9, 3:50 p.m.: Police responded to Mount Auburn and Summer streets after receiving multiple calls about a hit-and-run accident. They had information about the car that left the scene of the accident and police were able to track down the car on Mount Auburn at Bigelow Avenue. Officers detected an odor of alcohol on the man’s breath. The man said he had consumed alcohol before driving. He failed field sobriety tests but did not have any recollection of the accident. The 71-year-old man from Tucson, Ariz., was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
Incidents
Dec. 6, 2 p.m.: While driving down Arsenal Street a woman was approached by a man driving a Mercedes who yelled multiple times to her that he could fix a minor dent she had on her vehicle. She pulled into the Watertown Mall parking lot and parked near Friendly’s. The man got out of his car and began working on her car, despite the fact that she had not asked him to or agreed to have the work done. She became alarmed and went into Target, and store security was able to get footage of the man on surveillance video. The man is wanted by Watertown Police for questioning.
Dec. 6, 2:30 p.m.: A woman discovered her credit card had been used by someone else at the T-Mobile store in the Arsenal Mall. The person charged nearly, $1,000. She went to the store and confirmed with the manager that card had been used there. Police are working with Santander Bank and T-Mobile to identify the suspect.
Dec. 7, 2:10 p.m.: A woman parked in a lot at the Arsenal on the Charles complex at about 1 p.m. and when she returned an hour later she found a fresh scratch on her vehicle. It appeared to have been made by a hard object, possibly a key.
Dec. 7, 8 p.m.: A woman told Police Station that her daughter’s cell phone was taken while she was at the Watertown Boy’s & Girl’s Club that day. The girl left her phone in an unlocked locker at the club and when she returned it was gone.
Dec. 8, 4 p.m.: Two windows were damaged at EditShare on Brook Street. The damage appeared to have been done by a B.B. or pellet gun, and it occurred between Dec. 2 and Dec. 5. The cost of the windows is $1,000.
Dec. 9, 11 a.m.: While crossing Arlington Street at Nichols Avenue a man was honked at multiple times by the driver of a dark-colored pickup truck. The two men exchanged obscenities and the pedestrian walked up to the vehicle and yelled more obscenities. Then the driver punched the pedestrian in the face but did not injure him. The vehicle left the area. The driver is described as a white male driving a dark-colored pickup truck.
Dec. 10, 7:45 a.m.: A UPS employee parked his vehicle at the facility overnight and when he returned at 6 a.m. he had two flat tires. The tires appeared to have been slashed and cost $300 to repair.
Dec. 11, 12:30 p.m.: A man took a tablet computer off the shelf at Target and placed it other items in a shopping cart. Then security spotted him removing the packaging and put the tablet under his coat. The tablet is worth $109.99. The man was stopped and police were called. At 12:30 p.m. police summonsed the 37-year-old Cambridge man to Waltham District Court for shoplifting by concealment.
