Watertown High School’s girls and boys basketball teams tip off the 2016-17 season this week and see if they can repeat or improve on last year’s successful seasons.
The girls come off the team’s first trip to the State Final and return star center Shannon Murphy. The Raiders finished the regular season 17-3 and fell to Longmeadow in the State Final in Springfield.
The boys went 10-10 in the regular season, made the tournament and fell in the Div. 3 North Section quarterfinal.
Both teams start the season with league games against Arlington, the boys away and the girls at home. Unlike previous seasons where league matchups included a boys and girls doubleheader, the teams split up and have a twin bill with the JV team.
