One of two pedestrians struck Monday afternoon has died, Watertown Police said on Tuesday.
A man and a woman were walking across Watertown Street near Fifth Avenue when a vehicle struck both of them, just before 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28. The man died from injuries suffered in the incident, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Boston hospital for treatment.
Police did not release the name of the pedestrians or the driver.
The driver who struck the pair remained on scene and cooperated with police, O’Connor said.
The incident is now being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s office, O’Connor said.
so many people are getting hurt crossing streets. it is time for cars to slow down i live on belmont st. see cars going about 40-50 miles ahour why we need a sigh to say this is 30 miles a hour ..
Enforcement is the only remedy. Signs mean nothing until there is enforcement.
We live on Winsor Ave and our street is a cut through for commuters trying to beat the light at Mt Auburn and School. Have been in the street putting my daughter in car seat as cars fly by me at 40+ mph. Something must be done!
I live at 98 winsor and I agree with you about the speed.
Templeton Parkway is also becoming a cut through for Arlington Street.
It’s just a matter of time before someone gets hit badly in Coolidge Square.
well, there people routinely jay walk, so they are just asking to be hit.
So it’s okay then? No problem with the cars that run every light cycle?
