The undefeated Watertown High School field hockey team continued another tradition of its dynasty, grabbing the top seed in the North Section of the MIAA State tournament.
The Raiders completed another undefeated season – the fifth straight. Watertown, (18-0) is also building on two national record streaks: 118 straight wins and 178 games undefeated.
Coach Eileen Donahue and the Raiders also have their sights on its eighth-straight Massachusetts State Championship.
First up for the Raiders will be the winner of Wednesday’s match between No. 8 Weston and No. 9 Swampscott. The day and time of the Raiders’ Section quarterfinal has not been announced, but the game will be played at Victory Field.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Manchester-Essex also has a perfect 18-0 record. The two teams could meet for the second straight year in the North Section final.
The top seeds in other sections are: Seekonk (14-2) in the South, Quaboag (14-2-2) in the Central and Greenfield is the West’s No. 1 seed. Watertown would face the winner of South Section if it wins the North and the State Final pits the winner of the North-South semifinal against the victor in the West-Central matchup.
