The following announcement was provided by Watertown Citizens for Peace Justice & the Environment:

Finding affordable housing has long been an issue for everyone in Watertown. We invite you to join us on Wednesday, March 15 online from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for a presentation of current efforts to address it.

Louise Enoch will speak about the goals of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) including support of Boston Public Housing.

Mary Skinner will sketch the discussions of the Refugee Support Group subcommittee on Affordable Housing.

Tony Palomba will update us on affordable housing legislation before the Watertown City
Council.

Josh Rosmarin will present a new organization that he, Dan Pritchard and Amy Plovnick are
hoping to establish in Watertown. This would undertake affordable housing advocacy as is
being done in nearby communities.

There will also be breaks for questions and answers.

Please join us, Wednesday March 15 at 7:00 PM on Zoom. The zoom meeting will open at 6:45 so
people have time to say hello and chat.

  1. My oh my! I asked about housing twice in the last few months, to define/explain this in open so residents would better understand this subject. Not so funny, no takers or response. Now we have a special interest group gathering together, to inform themselves of what is best for the rest of the City. So for those who don’t zoom, when would your findings become public about how to spend the CITY Housing Fund or would your new Organization for Housing Advocacy inform us in some obscure way.

    • Dennis, can you be more specific by what you mean by defining affordable housing? I included info on the qualifications for low and middle income housing when you first asked the question. Do you mean the price/rents? Size? I think that would help people respond.

      • Yes you did Charlie, you’re the reporter, the question pretty much remains the same. Can this be explained so as everyone in City understands this very important subject. That may or may not concern you now but I’m sure it will in the future. The underwriters or powers that be truly need to explain this so everyone understands this, before it reaches the “I never knew that” moment. You got my e-mail, I went back 2 months in posts, didn’t see what you sent, as a refresher you send it again if you thought it would be needed. Thank You, also for all you do!
