Four Watertown artists have original creations that will be displayed around Boston in the Play Me, I’m Yours art installation featuring 60 pianos decorated by 60 artists.
Ruth K. Henry, Ryan Edwards, Olivia Natale and Dawn Evans Scaltero took part in the exhibition. In addition, the head piano tech for the project is Michael Wilson of Watertown.
Sixty pianos decorated by 60 local artists and community groups are now available in public outdoor spaces in every Boston neighborhood and select Cambridge locations for the public to play and enjoy Sept. 23 to Oct. 10, 2016.
Each piano features a simple invitation: “Play Me, I’m Yours.” Since 2008, Play Me, I’m Yours, a community-focused art installation created by Luke Jerram, has been installed in more than 50 cities and reached more than 10 million people globally. Celebrity Series of Boston first produced Street Pianos Boston in 2013, when over 500,000 people engaged with the pianos all across Boston. The festival launched our now annual commitment to public performance art as part of Arts for All!, Celebrity Series’ community initiatives, and reflects our vision that the performing arts are everyone.
