The Hatch Makerspace offers a variety of classes for people looking to learn how to make, do, and create, and in January there are a variety of classes including sewing, soldering, and making vision boards. Hatch sent out the following information:

Hatch Makerspace is located at 20 Summer Street in Watertown, MA. An extension of the Watertown Free Public Library, we are a free public workshop with space, equipment, and materials available for your use.

Introduction to the Sewing Machine
Monday 1/9,  5-7pm

Learn how to use a sewing machine. We will cover the basics of threading a machine, changing stitches, tension, and several tips to get started.

All sewing machines and materials will be provided by Hatch.

This workshop is designed for sewing novices or beginners who need a refresher. Participants must be age 10 or older. Anyone under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

Vision Boards
Monday 1/9, 7-9pm

Participants will learn how to use use collage as a tool for visualizing goals and wishes. The vision board is a tool to make desires and dreams more concrete.

All materials and tools are provided.

This workshop is for adults 18+.

Registration is required.

Hand Sewing for Mending
Monday 1/23,  5-7pm

In this workshop you will learn several key hand stitching techniques for mending your own clothing. We will explore how these stitches can be used to repair different types of textile damage, and look at examples of “visible mending,” where the repair stitches are shown off imaginatively.

All materials and tools are provided.

This workshop is for adults and older children ages 16+.

Registration is required.

Introduction to Soldering for Electronics
Monday 1/23,  7-9pm

Learn the basics you need to put together circuits and other small projects. This workshop will cover basic soldering technique, supplies, and equipment for soldering electronics.

All materials and tools are provided.

This workshop is for adults and older children ages 16+.

Registration is required.

Tuesday – Friday      1-9 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday     1-7 p.m.
