The Watertown Public Schools announced that 23 Watertown Raiders athletes have been recognized by the Middlesex League as All-Stars for the Fall 2022 sports season. See the announcement below:
The state champion Raiders field hockey team saw five players pick up honors. Senior co-captains Lizzie Loftus and Maggie Driscoll were named to the All-Conference team and were crowned Co-MVPs of the Freedom Division. Junior Molly Driscoll also earned All-Conference honors. Brianna Cooper and Adrianna Williams were named Freedom Division All-Stars.
The Raiders capped off an undefeated season with a 2-0 victory over Sandwich in the Division III state championship game. It is the second straight state title for Watertown and the 20th championship under head coach Eileen Donahue.
Both Raiders soccer teams are well-represented in this year’s All-Star selections. Bonsu Acheampong, Robert Iannetta, and Isaiah Etienne picked up honors on the boys side, while girls soccer also saw three players take home All-Star honors: Amanda Cosco, Molly Sheehan, and Sarah Morrissey.
Three Raiders football players were named to the Middlesex League All-Conference Team: Elias Ortiz, Payton Andrade, and Johnny Cacace. Greg Moan, Billy McHugh, and Vinnie Wolff were selected as division All-Stars.
Two Raiders Cross Country athletes were also recognized for their seasons. Max Bennett was named a division All-Star and Anna Lonergan took home All-Conference and All-Star honors.
In golf, James Erickson, Aidan Campbell, and Jack Dickie were named All-Stars. Alyce Judge picked up All-Star honors in cheerleading. Nina Paquette was selected as a Freedom Division All-Star in volleyball.
Why wasn’t Billy McHugh named to the Middlesex All-Conference Team? If his coaches had played him the way they should’ve he would be named! Just look at the games at Fenway Park against the Marauders, if was played in the first half that game would’ve been a blow out! But they waited until the second 1/2 to play him & he WON the game for them!
