The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
July 26, 3:35 p.m.: A woman was stopped at Target after she was seen taking several items of women’s clothing into the fitting room and came out with items in her bag. She tried to walk past the registers without paying. The 21-year-old South Boston woman was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise.
July 27, 6:45 p.m.: Police were called to Longfellow Road after a resident reported a man walking up and down the street trying to open car doors. When officers stopped the man, police checked his record and found he had several warrants out of Lowell District Court: the first was a default warrant; the second was for two counts of receiving stolen properties over $250; the third was for larceny over $250, possession to distribute a Class C drug, and possession of a Class B drug; the fourth was for four counts of receiving stolen property over $250 and four counts of larceny over $250 by false pretense; the fifth was for possession of a Class A drug and possession of a Class E drug; and the sixth was a default warrant. When police searched the suspect during booking they found several pills. The 36-year-old Watertown man was also arrested on charges of possession of a Class B drug and possession of a Class E drug.
July 28, 10:20 p.m.: An accident occurred on Galen Street when a vehicle made a turn from Williams Street onto Galen and drove into oncoming traffic. The officer spoke to the driver who made the turn and detected an odor of alcohol on her breath. When police asked her name, she first gave a false one. Field sobriety tests were performed and the 44-year-old Newton woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, unlicensed driving, marked lanes violation and refusing to identify herself.
July 31, 12:50 p.m.: A 46-year-old Watertown man wanted on a probation warrant turned himself in at the police station.
Incidents
July 25, 7:20 p.m.: A Lexington Street resident reported a package being stolen. The package contained family photos. Later, a man knocked on the person’s door and said he had found the package near 100 Warren St. and returned it. The package still had the address label on it. All the contents were still there.
July 27, 2:15 p.m.: A Waverley Avenue business owner discovered a now-former employee had stolen business checks and was writing herself checks. It had been going on for a year.
July 28, 6:30 p.m.: A cell phone was stolen from a woman while she was in the children’s room at the Watertown Free Public Library.
July 29, 1:10 p.m.: A person parked a bicycle in a rack outside a business on Pleasant Street. When the person returned the next day it was missing. The bike was a black Trek hybrid bike worth $490.
July 31, 7 a.m.: A window at the Lowell School appeared to be pried open and someone entered a classroom on the ground floor. It appears that the person did not go beyond the classroom and did not take anything.
July 31, 2:55 p.m.: A small fire was reported on the porch of a third floor apartment on Mount Auburn Street. When the Fire Department arrived the resident had put out the fire. It appeared to start when smoking material was improperly put out.
