Arrests
June 21, 2:50 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Belmont Street spotted a man driving a brown Hyundai. The officer recognized the man and knew he had a suspended license. The officer pulled the driver over and placed him under arrest for driving with a suspended license, a subsequent offense. The driver made bail and left the Police Station. At 12:50 a.m. on June 22, an officer patrolling on Belmont Street saw the same man driving the same brown Hyundai. As police watched, the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The officer knew the driver had been arrested the previous day and he confirmed his license was still revoked. The 50-year-old Watertown man was arrested again for driving with a suspended license, a subsequent offense, O’Connor said.
June 25, 6:10 p.m.: Store security at Best Buy confronted a woman they suspected of shoplifting. She was seen putting to pairs of Beats headphones into her beach bag. When security stopped her she fled out the front door and onto Arsenal Street. Police were given a description and located her on Arsenal Street, but she did not have the headphones. However, police later found a brown beach bag with two pairs of headphones and an MP3 player, which were combined worth over $500. The 42-year-old Brockton woman was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250.
June 26, 1:47 a.m.: An officer monitoring traffic in Watertown Square ran the license plate of a vehicle in front of him and found the registered owner had a revoked license. The officer pulled the vehicle over and confirmed the owner was driving. The 37-year-old Watertown man was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
June 26, 4:49 a.m.: A vehicle was seen running a red light at Church and Main streets. The officer pulled the vehicle over and discovered the driver had a default warrant. The 26-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from West Roxbury District Court for larceny.
June 26, 6:43 a.m.: Middlesex Probation notified Watertown Police that a local man had violated his probation terms. Police served the warrant on Westminster Avenue and arrested the 59-year-old Watertown man on the probation warrant.
Incidents
June 20, 6:30 p.m.: A 20-year-old woman was walking around an apartment complex with an elderly woman when she saw a vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot. The woman told the driver to slow down. Words were exchanged and the driver – a 33-year-old woman – got out of the car, grabbed the other woman’s hair and pulled her to the ground. She sustained minor injuries and her clothes were ripped. Others witnessed the incident. Police got a summons from Waltham District Court for the 33-year-old woman from Watertown for assault and battery.
June 21, 1:22 a.m.: Police were called to an apartment building on Mt. Auburn Street three times in the same evening. The first time there was a complaint that there was loud banging and yelling coming from the apartment. Officers asked the tenant to quiet down. Police records show they had been called to the apartment 14 times since February, mostly between midnight and 5 a.m. During one of the incidents on the 21st, a glass shattered in the common hallway of the building. Officers determined the occupants of the apartment were causing negative effects on the quality of life of the other tenants of the building. Police got a court summons for a 55-year-old Watertown man for keeping a noisy, disorderly house.
June 23, 5:10 p.m.: A FedEx package was delivered to a home on Waverley Avenue but when the person went to pick it up it was gone. It was delivered between 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
June 25, 9:30 a.m.: A woman parked in the municipal lot in Watertown Square and went to the Bank of America ATM. When she came back out she saw a scratch on the front and back passenger side doors that appeared to have been made with a hard object.
June 25, 1:20 a.m.: Two vehicles were broken into on Winter Street. A man reported that he had $300 taken from his wallet that was in his vehicle. His wife had $150 in cash taken from her vehicle. Nothing else was taken and the vehicles had been left unlocked.
June 26, 7:50 p.m.: A man was spotted trying to take wrist watches from Target. Security told police this was the third time they had seen him doing this. When he was stopped, the man had two watches on him worth $40. The 50-year-old man from Brighton was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting by concealment.
