The following announcement was provided by Watertown Walks for Peace:
Watertown Walks for Peace (WW4P) will be participating in this year’s Mother’s Day Walk for Peace on May 8, 2022.
This annual fundraising event supports the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in its critical advocacy and support work for victims of gun violence.
This will be Watertown’s eighth year of participation in the annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace. Many Watertown residents have walked with others from Boston and surrounding communities, raising over $15,000 to demonstrate Watertown’s continued concern and caring for individuals, families, and communities affected by gun violence. This year our goal is $3,000. The WW4P committee encourages Watertown residents and businesses to join in the event in two ways:
DONATE on the WW4P fundraising page. Please make a generous contribution at www.mothersdaywalk4peace.org/WW4P to help us reach or exceed our goal of $3,000 donation for 2022.
SIGN UP for our Walking Team. Given pandemic restrictions, this will be the first Mother’s Day Walk for Peace in Dorchester since 2019. We will be traveling by bus to Fields Corner and returning from Madison Park High School. Sign up here to be part of our WW4P walking team: ww4p2022.eventbrite.com.
This year the theme of the walk is Building Together for Generation Peace. The vision of Louis D. Brown Peace Institute is “to create and sustain an environment where all families can live in peace and all people are valued”. As a center for healing, teaching, and learning around issues of trauma, grief, and loss, the institute provides training, counseling, workshops, and curricula for individuals, families, and communities.
