The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
April 9, 5:43 p.m.: An officer in Coolidge Square spotted a vehicle illegally parked. When the officer ran the plate it showed the owner had a suspended license as well as a warrant for his arrest. The officer saw the driver and recognized him as the owner. When the officer turned the cruiser’s the lights on and tried to stop the man the suspect sped away, turned and headed east on Grove Street. The car ran a stop sign at Arlington and Grove streets. He finally pulled over on Grove at Coolidge Hill Road. The officer told the driver to get out of the vehicle. The driver physically resisted when the officer tried to place him under arrest, and struggled to get away. Two other officers arrived and helped take the man into custody. Armando Deleon, 70, of Holliston was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, and was cited for speeding. He was also arrested on the warrant from Waltham District Court for two counts of assault and battery on a person over 60, one count of intimidation of a court witness, and one count assault and battery with a dangerous person on a person over 65.
Incidents
April 5, 1:15 p.m.: Best Buy security reported a shoplifting incident. A man came into the store and took numerous Blu-ray movies from the shelves and left through the front entrance without paying. He got into a red Mini Cooper and left. The suspect is described as a white male, age 40-50, wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans, a black baseball cap, and a black COVID mask. Police are trying to identify the suspect.
April 5, 5:30 p.m.: Two women were seen inside Best Buy going into the locked cases and removed anti-theft devices. They took a total of $1,468 in computer items. One suspect is described as a Black female with black hair, wearing a black jacket, and a white T-shirt, grey and white pants, and a COVID mask. The second suspect is described a Black female with long blond hair, wearing a black jacket, and grey sweatpants with a black stripe. After leaving the store the pair went to Carter’s clothing store. Video from the store showed they took numerous clothing items and placed them into bags they were carrying. They took about $100 in children’s clothing. Police are trying to identify the suspects.
April 6, 5:30 p.m.: An employee of Ulta Beauty at Arsenal Yards told police a man was seen taking several men’s fragrances, placed them into a Stop & Shop bag, and left without paying. Security tried to speak to the man, asking if he needed assistance. As the man tried to flee, the employee grabbed the bag. The $600 in fragrances were recovered. The man was last getting into the backseat of a black Lincoln SUV parked in a handicap spot in front of the store. The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 30s or early 40s, 5-foot-9-inches tall, wearing a brown jacket, a grey hoodie, and blue jeans.
April 6, 6:45 p.m.: A Ladd Street resident reported that a catalytic converter was taken form his 2006 Toyota Prius. The owner found a piece of his exhaust and bolts on the ground near his car and realized the catalytic converter was gone. It is valued at $1,000.
April 10, 5:08 p.m.: A man was riding his bike on Hovey Street toward Belmont Street when a vehicle came up very close to him and made a sudden turn into a driveway. The driver, an 82-year-old man, was upset and got out and approached the bicyclist claiming he almost struck his vehicle. The cyclist, a 58-year-old man, said the driver pushed him with both hands causing him fell back onto the ground. Police were called and when the spoke to the driver they said he did not see the bike and said the cyclist confronted him accusing him of nearly striking him with his vehicle. He denied pushing the cyclist. Police told the man on the bike that he could seek assault and battery charges at Waltham District Court on his own.
