The Main Street Mobile Station was turned into a film set for the Mark Wahlberg film ‘Patriots Day.’
It can seem like Watertown has been turned into a Hollywood set recently with scenes from the “Patriots Day” film being shot several places around town.
The film chronicling the events of the Boston Marathon Bombing and the search for and capture of the suspects stars Mark Wahlberg, who was seen shooting a scene at the Main Street Mobile Station on the evening of May 9.
Large crowds gathered on the sidewalk of Main Street, and some lucky fans got to meet Wahlberg after the filming that evening.
Exactly where the scene fits in the move is not clear. It was supposed to be in Cambridge, but it is not clear if it is the gas station where the man who was carjacked escaped from the Tsarnaevs, or another gas station.

Crews set up outside the old Watertown Police Station to shoot part of the film, “Patriots Day.”
On Monday, the crews headed over to the old Police Station in Watertown Square. According to a Watertown Police officer, the inside of the old station has never looked better inside after the interior was repainted and decorated.
Tuesday, there were two scenes being. The Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street was closed down so filming could take place there. Also, Greg’s Restaurant on Mt. Auburn Street was the setting for a scene featuring J.K. Simmons, who is playing Watertown Police Sgt. Jeffrey Pugliese, one of the officers who battled the bombers.
Greg’s was the place where Pugliese took a report after an incident on the night of April 12, 2013. That was the reason was at the Police Station late, and was available to respond to the shootout at Dexter Avenue and Laurel Street.

These yellow signs popped up around Watertown to direct crews from “Patriots Day” around town.
At least one more scene is supposed to be shot in town, at a home on the Westside of town.
Other evidence of the crews can be seen around town. Spotlights were stored near the Watertown Free Public Library Tuesday night, and small yellow signs direct crew around town to places like “Catering,” the “Set” and “Base Camp,” which is located on Pleasant Street near Launch trampoline park.
