This season, the Raiders went 5-3 in the regular season (4-2 in the Middlesex League Freedom Division) and earned a spot in the MIAA Div. 5 Football Playoffs. Watertown traveled to Dover-Sherborn, and lost 21-7, but defeated Austin Prep in a non-playoff game to improve to 6-4.
The team has relied on its running game, particularly senior running back Mason Andrade. He has scored 13 of the Raiders’ 23 touchdowns. Watertown quarterback, junior Johnny Cacace, has also had some success running and passing to his receivers, including senior Nathan Master and junior Billy McHugh.
Belmont (4-6, 3-4 Middlesex Liberty) comes into the rivalry game on a four-game losing streak, including two non-playoff games. First year Belmont Head Coach Brian McCray has had to use two quarterbacks this season after senior Ryan Broderick got injured in the fourth game of the season.
Sophomore quarterback Jayden Arno replaced him. One of his targets is his brother, Tyler, a senior wide receiver. The Marauders use a pair of running backs, senior Gordon Lassiter and sophomore Adrien Gurung.
