Joan was born and grew up in Framingham. She graduated from the College of New Rochelle in 1955. Joan married the love of her life, John B. Gilbert in 1960 and settled in Watertown shortly after where she raised three wonderful, loving and caring children. She also was blessed with two grandchildren and 2 great-children.
Family was the most important thing to Joan but she had many other interests as well. She was especially fond of winters in St. Augustine, Fla., and enjoyed giving tours to those who went to visit. She loved golf, playing occasionally and watched as often as she could. Her love of sports extended to more than golf and was an avid Boston College football fan. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, horse racing and the Olympics.
Joan was an enthusiastic reader who enjoyed books of all genres. Her faith was extremely strong and enjoyed any church participation. Joan appreciated a good glass of wine and social events. She will be greatly missed by all.
