Attorney Peter Georgiou is kicking off his campaign for Governor’s Council, 3rd District, in Watertown on April 26, 2016, he announced this week.

Peter runs a successful worker’s compensation practice in Cambridge. He is running to represent the district that stretches from Brookline, Newton to Shirley and from Chelmsford to Westborough, and includes parts of four counties.

The event will be held at the Hellenic Cultural Center, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown, MA 02472. For more information, please visit Peter’s website at PeterG2016.com.

Peter is running for Governor’s Council because he feels he can make a difference in ordinary people’s lives by fighting for competent, qualified and fair justices on the bench.  Peter believes that he has been blessed with good fortune and it is now time to give back to his community. He believes public service is now calling out and he is ready.

A native of Athens, Peter fled Greece with his parents in the aftermath of the 1967 Coup D’état. Peter’s father was opposing the military take over, fighting for democracy.

Growing up in New York, Peter worked hard and always showed compassion for others. After High School, Peter moved to Boston, and attended the University of Massachusetts at Boston and then the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. In 1985 Peter was awarded his B.S., cum laude, in Public Service. He paid for college by working as a cab driver and tending bar, as well as winning a scholarship from the college.

Despite his mother’s wish for him to become a doctor, Peter quickly realized the law could be used to fight for ordinary people who did not always get a fair deal, and did not have the resources to fight insurance companies and big businesses.

Peter also took a job with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, working in the criminal enforcement division. During his time there, Peter worked in the trenches against organized crime and secured millions of dollars in payments to the state from members of the underworld.

In 1989, following his graduation from the New England School of Law, cum laude, Peter took and passed the Bar Exam. Shortly thereafter he worked for 7 years as an attorney in a major law firm in Boston, fighting to protect the rights of ordinary working people against insurance companies and big business.

In 1997, Peter went out on own and his firm has since become one of the state’s top worker’s compensation law offices. Peter manages three attorneys and three assistants. Peter and his firm have represented thousands of people throughout the Commonwealth.

A respected member of his profession, he’ll bring much needed integrity and direction back to the 3rd District. Peter never lost the discipline that’s helped make his life in America successful, and if elected will fight day-in and day-out for you and your family.

The election is on September 8, 2016.

Peter Georgiou lives in Lincoln. He has two children, Eleni and Alex.
