The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Feb. 18, 10:31 p.m.: A man was spotted in a parking lot on Woodview Way, and when police checked his information they found he had an outstanding warrant. The 28-year-old homeless man was arrested on the warrant from Lynn District Court for four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault and battery.
Feb. 19, 3:05 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Commonwealth Road spotted a man in the back of a vehicle. The man, who was wearing a black knit hat and a dark jacket, left the car when he saw the light and walked quickly away from the officer. He ducked into bushes along the street, but the officer caught up and stopped the man. After questioning the suspect, police found he took loose change and sunglasses from the vehicle and also admitted to breaking into a few other vehicles in the area. When police went through the man’s items, they found a small plastic bag containing what appeared to be heroin. The 31-year-old Somerville man was arrested on charges of breaking and entering a vehicle during the nighttime for a felony, larceny under $250, receiving stolen property and possession of heroin.
Feb. 19, 7:45 a.m.: Police stopped a vehicle on Lexington Street and when police checked the driver’s record they found he had a warrant. The 32-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant.
Incidents
Feb. 15, 4:30 p.m.: The owner of Green Peapod restaurant discovered someone had broken in and taken a small amount of cash out of the register. Police were called and looked around the business. The front and back doors were locked when the owners arrived, but police found a door off the kitchen had what appeared to be pry marks on the door frame. Detectives are investigating.
Feb. 16, 9:40 a.m.: The owner of Salon Sama came in after the weekend and found that someone had tried to break into the business on Mt. Auburn Street. The front door had marks showing someone had tried to pry it open, but no entry was gained. Police are investigating.
Feb. 16, 8:40 p.m.: A man working at a kiosk at the Arsenal Project reported someone stole his iPhone 6. He told police that three people approached his kiosk, and the man and one of the women asked about getting a T-shirt made. He left the kiosk to go get something from another kiosk and when he returned his iPhone – which had been charging – was gone. Security guards located the couple, who said the third person was an acquaintance who they ran into, and she might have taken the iPhone. Security could not locate the third person. Police are investigating.
Feb. 17, 8:30 a.m.: A School Street resident parked in the driveway and sometime overnight someone broke the vent window on the pickup truck and took an industrial sander and a backpack vacuum cleaner worth a combined $9,800. Police are investigating.
Feb. 19, 7:50 p.m.: Three packages were delivered to an apartment building on Riverside Street between Jan. 29 and Feb. 5 but were gone before the recipient could pick them up. They contained about $100 in clothing, toys and books.
Feb. 21, 6:30 p.m.: A Grandview Avenue resident was walking out the back of her house onto a screened porch, and when she opened the door she came face-to-face with an unknown man. The man turned around and ran out the backyard. The suspect is described as a middle-aged male, medium build, wearing a navy jacket and a red winter hat and had a very dark colored beard. Police are investigating.
