The Mosesian Center for the Arts is thrilled to bring live, in-person events back to the Arsenal on the Charles. Despite being shuttered since March 2020 and now closed for major lobby renovations, the arts organization will be presenting five fabulous evenings of entertainment on the grounds of the historic Commander’s Mansion on Wednesday evenings this summer.
On June 23, seven-time Boston Music Award-winner Will Dailey will take the stage fresh off Boston’s Hot Stove Cool Music benefit as he gears up for Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Music Festival later this summer. This will be Will’s first live show back in front of an audience since 2019. His sound has been described as having a rich vintage vibe while having a firm appreciation of AM rock, pop, and big hooks. Other Brother Darryl, composed of Boston band veterans and allstars, will open.
On June 30, the Women in Comedy Festival helps to close the gender gap in comedy by showcasing diverse performers and giving audiences a chance to see work from both local and nationally known comedians. Host and Boston-based comedian Emily Ruskowski and Brooklyn-based comic and writer Sabrina Wu will open for headliner Bethany Van Delft. Known from The Moth and Parentalogic on NOVA|PBS, Bethany has been called “Best Comic” by Boston Magazine.
On July 14, the first of two Earfull events takes the stage. Since the early 2000’s, Boston musician and author Jen Trynin, and bookstore connoisseur Tim Huggins, have been hosting the series, bringing together the worlds of writers and musicians. They prove that, given the right environment, Book People will love the experience of live music, and Rock People will realize how cool it is to hear great authors reading their work aloud. Joining the Earfull hosts at this event will be writers Laura Zigman and Tom Perrotta with musicians Honeysuckle and Giant Kings.
On July 28, STL GLD performs with Regie Gibson. Through captivating performances, STL GLD (“still gold”) continually push traditions of Hip Hop with compositions that see elements of rock, punk, and cinematic orchestra. Opening artist Regie Gibson is a National Poetry Slam Champion and literary performer who has worked with diverse writers and musicians in genres including Celtic, jazz, blues. and salsa. Together, these performers will deliver a high-energy, genre-bending, and unforgettable live experience.
On August 4, Earfull returns for a second performance of the summer, bringing a new slate of writers reading and songwriters singing. In addition to the Earfull hosts, the evening’s performers will include authors Rishi Reddi and Lily King with musicians Tanya Donelly and The Parkington Sisters.
All listed events will take place outdoors under the tent on the grounds of Commander’s Mansion, rain or shine. The Mosesian Center for the Arts is undergoing major lobby renovations and will be closed through the summer.
Although COVID restrictions have been lifted, MCA will still be maintaining some distancing between seated groups. Seating is available in groups of two, four, or six, and all tickets at a selected table must be purchased. Take-out meals from Branch Line restaurant, also at the Arsenal on the Charles, will be available to pre-order, and beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be on sale.
Limited parking is available at the Mansion itself. Additional surface parking is available in the Arsenal complex and a free parking garage is just a short walk away.
