Danny Shea of Chelmsford is hosting Drinks and Dancing with Old Brigade to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire’s Boston Marathon Team. The special event is open to the public and set for Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Donohue’s Bar and Grill, 87 Bigelow Ave, Watertown.

“I am running to honor my late father, Jerry Shea, formerly of Belmont and an educator at Cambridge and Latin High School in Cambridge. He succumbed to this devastating disease in June,” said Shea. “Having witnessed firsthand the Alzheimer’s the devastation this disease has on the sick and their families, I felt I had to do something. I was honored to be selected to run the 2016 Boston Marathon and raise money to support the effort to end Alzheimer’s.”

Donohue’s Bar and Grill of Watertown and the Old Brigade have been kind enough to donate the venue and entertainment for this event.

“We want people to come and enjoy the kickoff to the St. Patrick ’s Day season with great Irish music, food and beverages, and help us raise money to end Alzheimer’s,” said Shea.

As part of the John Hancock Charity Program, the RUN to End Alzheimer’s team will hit the road from Hopkinton to Boston for the Boston Marathon’s 120th anniversary. In 2015, the RUN to End Alzheimer’s Boston Marathon team raised over $360,000 to help provide care, support and research funding for Alzheimer’s.
