Arrests
April 7, 4:31 p.m.: Police were called by someone who observed a woman sitting in a white car for an extended period and the caller said the woman was acting strangely. The vehicle was parked on Spruce Street and when officers spoke to the woman she said she was there because her boyfriend lived in the area. She was unable to tell police in which house he lived. When speaking with her, Police learned that there was a warrant for her arrest from the Brockton District Court for reckless endangerment of a child. The 30-year-old Weymouth woman was placed under arrest.
April 8, 8:21 p.m.: An erratic driver was reported in the area of Arlington and Mt. Auburn streets, and the caller said the vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk on Arlington Street and then back into the roadway. The car pulled into a gas station and the caller did so, too. The caller had followed the vehicle from Belmont Street, and said the car had gone onto the sidewalk multiple times. When officers spoke with the erratic driver he showed signs of being intoxicated. The man said was coming from a friend’s house in Belmont and was heading to Target. Police learned the man only had a learner’s permit, not a full license, plus the vehicle was not insured and the license plates came back to a different vehicle. The man did not pass the field sobriety tests. The 46-year-old Belmont man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle to endanger, driving without a license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle and attaching plates.
April 9, 11:57 p.m.: A person was seen stumbling around a parking lot on Mt. Auburn Street who appeared to need help. Police were called and were able to locate the man, who appeared to be intoxicated. While officers spoke with the man they learned he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, both out of Waltham District Court: one for driving under the influence of alcohol, and the second for a probation violation. The 32-year-old homeless man was placed under arrest.
April 11, 5:49 p.m.: Police received a call about an unwanted man in the Gray’s Laundromat on Church Street. The officer who responded recognized the man, and remembered he had been trespassed from the laundry mat previously. The man had been trespassed four previous times in 2021. The 56-year-old Watertown man, who is homeless, was arrested for trespassing.
Incidents
April 5, 4:55 p.m.: A laptop was taken from a vehicle. The owner put a MacBook in his trunk around 7:30 a.m. and locked the vehicle, which was parked in his driveway on School Street. When the man came back out at 3:40 p.m. the laptop was gone. The man told Police he had used the vehicle multiple times that day to go to the dog park, to school and he went to Cambridge, so he is not sure when and where it was taken. The laptop is worth an estimated $300.
April 7, 12:27 p.m.: An hit-and-run accident was spotted in the Home Depot parking lot. The driver left before Police arrived, but an employee got a description of the vehicle and the license plate. Before the accident, the man was seen taking several Milwaukee power tools and walked out of the contractor’s entrance without paying. He then hurried to his vehicle and as he attempted to leave he struck a Toyota in the parking lot. Police were able to identify the driver and contacted him. The man came to the Police Station the following day and dropped off items he took from Home Depot: a Milwaukee-brand drill, saw and two batteries. The 56-year-old Boston man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting — a third offense, driving an uninsured vehicle, and driving with a suspended license — a subsequent offense.
April 7, 2:32 p.m.: An officer was approached by a juvenile from Newton on Galen Street near Water Street who said her bicycle was missing. The victim, an employee of the health center, said she was attending to a patient and placed her phone down on the counter in a bathroom at about 10 a.m. At 3 p.m. she discovered the phone was missing. She checked the area but could not find it. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy 11 phone, valued at $500.
April 8 4:38 p.m.: A woman reported her daughter’s bike had just been stolen from their side yard. The mother looked out the kitchen window and saw the suspect come into the side yard and take the bike. She ran out and confronted the suspect. The bike cost $300.
April 10, 2:06 p.m.: An iPad was stolen from a vehicle while it was parked at a business on Arsenal Street. The Weston resident was at the business from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and left the car unlocked and unattended, but was only in the business for two minutes. The iPad was left on the front seat, and it appears someone went into it and took it.
April 10, 10:17 p.m.: The porch of a Mt. Auburn Street home got hit by eggs, tomatoes and a container of melted ice cream. The two-family home has a home security camera, which showed three suspects: two males of undetermined race wearing jeans and grey hooded sweatshirts, and a white female with long brown hair and dark grey sweatshirt. All were wearing face coverings.
