Caroline Waweru of Watertown was named a 2020 Women to Watch Award winner by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Watertown resident Caroline Waweru, CPA, MBA, MSA was selected as a 2020 Women to Watch Award winner by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), the professional association of certified public accountants, representing over 11,000 members. The awards recognize women who have made outstanding contributions to the accounting profession, their communities, their firms or companies and to the development of women as leaders.

Waweru, senior tax manager at Stone & Company, LLC, is one of seven women selected to receive a 2020 Women to Watch Award. She was selected in the Emerging Leader category, reserved for professionals with 15 years of experience or less. Awards are also presented in the Experienced Leader category, which is reserved for women with more than 15 years in the accounting industry.

“The MSCPA is proud to recognize the accomplishments of these remarkable women, and we’re looking forward to honoring Caroline for her outstanding contributions to her peers, her community and the profession,” said Amy Pitter, president and CEO of the MSCPA.

At Stone & Company, LLC, Waweru is responsible for managing the operations of the firm’s tax practice. Always seeking ways to remain engaged, she recently participated in the AICPA content rating panel for the REG Exam, a three hour commitment that evaluated topics on the regulation section of the CPA Exam and provided feedback on the relevance of the material tested in the CPA Exam in relation to real life application.

Active in the profession, Waweru is an MSCPA firm ambassador and member of the Society’s Tax Committee and Young Professional Advisory Group. She is also an active alumna of Mount Holyoke College and regularly participates in career development panels on campus.

“Caroline has consistently gone above and beyond for her team and for the firm’s clients,” says Rob Miller, CPA, CFE, managing partner at Stone & Company, LLC. “She truly understands the concept of outstanding service and we are fortunate to have such an outstanding professional on the Stone team. On behalf of your Stone team, congratulations!”

Award winners will be honored on October 28 at the MSCPA’s Women’s Leadership Virtual Summit.
