The Watertown Health Department announced Monday that the number of COVID-19 related deaths rose to seven, with the two most recent fatalities.
Watertown’s total positive Coronavirus cases rose to 147, and 46 people have recovered, according to the Health Department.
The new cases in Massachusetts have been going down, according to the latest information released by the Mass. Department of Public Health. On Monday, the state had 1,566 new cases, and there were 103 more COVID-19 related deaths. As of April 20, Massachusetts has 39,643 positive cases and 1,809 deaths.
The MassDPH’s latest COVID-19 information release includes graphs and charts with information about the history of the virus in Massachusetts. According to the MassDPH report, people have been hospitalized in 10 percent of all confirmed Coronavirus cases. There are 3,804 people currently hospitalized.
Since April 16, the number of new cases in the state has dropped each day. On April 16, there were 2,262 cases, and on Monday, April 20 there were 1,566 cases. See the graph above.
Middlesex County has the most positive cases, 9,253, nearly 1,000 more than the next highest county, Suffolk, which had 8,314.
The data shows that the age group with the most cases are people in their 50s (6,873), but the the rate per 100,000 residents is highest for people 80 or older (2,087).
Also, people 80 or older have the most hospitalizations due to COVID-19 (1,135).
