The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Oct. 28, 2:06 a.m.: A man went to Perfection Auto Body, got into a tow truck and drove away down Pleasant Street. Employees called Police, who stopped the flatbed truck on Pleasant and Bridge streets. They opened the door and asked the man to put the truck in park. It took several requests before he did it. When they asked him to exit, he refused. The man also resisted when officers tried to take him into custody. Officers detected an odor of alcohol on the man’s breath. The man admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. Police also discovered the man did not have a license. The 27-year-old Waltham man was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Oct. 28, 4:10 a.m.: Employees at CVS on Main Street called Police after seeing a man in the back of the store who was acting suspiciously. The man was sitting in the back, and the employee believed he was trying to stay out of sight of store employees. Police spoke to the man and found he was wanted on five arrest warrants. The 30-year old Malden man was arrested on the warrants: one from Brockton District Court for traffic offenses, one from Malden District Court, two from Waltham District Court for shoplifting and one from Somerville District Court for shoplifting.
Oct. 28, 5:09 p.m.: Target security spotted a man taking items off the shelf and place them in a white Target bag which he brought with him. He tried to walk out without paying, but was stopped. Security stopped him and and found $364.87 worth of clothing in his bag. He also was wanted on an arrest warrant. The 30-year-old Boston man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and the warrant from Brighton District Court for annoying and accosting.
Oct. 28, 7:43 p.m.: Police went to Lyons Street for a welfare check on man in a black pickup who was thrashing around. When they located him the Dodge pickup was in the middle of the street with the motor running and in reverse. Police opened the door and put the vehicle in gear. The man got out and struggled to maintain his balance. He appeared to be under the influence of a drug. He took field sobriety tests and failed them. The man also admitted to using cocaine prior to driving. The 58-year-old Braintree man was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a Class B drug — cocaine.
Oct. 30, 11:35 a.m.: Police responded to CVS in Watertown Square after a man suspected of shoplifting fled the store. He was found on Mt. Auburn Street in Watertown Square and detained. He had taken four electric razors and a bottle of Advil worth a total of $214.89. The items were recovered. Police discovered the man had prior shoplifting charges, and he had removed theft detection strips from the razors. The 56-year-old East Boston man was arrested on charges of shoplifting by concealment — at third offense, and three counts unlawful deactivation of a theft detection device.
Oct. 31, 5:34 p.m: A driver was seen in a vehicle and appeared to be nodding off while pulled over at the corner of Edenfield Avenue and Warren Street. The driver pulled away and police pulled the vehicle over at Carey Avenue. Officers spoke with the driver who admitted to using fentanyl before driving. The man failed field sobriety tests. The 39-year-old Watertown man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs — a third offense, and possession of a Class A drug.
Nov. 1, 9:37 p.m.: Police were called to a disturbance at Main and Cross streets. They spoke with a woman who had two warrants for her arrest. The 37-year-old Malden woman was arrested on the warrants: one from Danvers District Court for traffic offenses and one from Malden District Court for possession of a counterfeit note and larceny under $1,200.
Nov. 3, 11:23 a.m.: Police were alerted that a man was wanted on a probation warrant out of Worcester Superior Court. They went to Philip Darch Road and placed a 33-year-old Watertown man under arrests for the warrant.
Nov. 3, 1:32 p.m.: Police pulled over a vehicle on Warrant Street at Lexington Street for a motor vehicle violation and while police were speaking with the driver they found he did not have a license. The 32-year-old Watertown man was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Incidents
Oct. 29, 8:51 a.m.: A road rage incident was reported to police. It took place on Hall Avenue when a bicyclist yelled at a driver for speeding. The driver stopped and got out of the vehicle to confront the cyclist. They got into a heated exchange and the driver struck the bicyclist in the face and knocked off his glasses. The driver left, but the cyclist got the license plate. Police located the suspect and the man admitted to getting into an argument but denied hitting the man. Police summonsed the driver, a 50-year-old Watertown man to Waltham District Court on a charge of assault and battery on a person over 60.
Oct. 31, 9:13 p.m.: A Buick Street resident heard a loud sound outside and went out side to find a cable wire that had been cut and rolled up and tied together. It was lying on the ground under the cable panel. The man is not sure if it had been there before.
Oct. 31, 11 p.m.: A resident went to the Police Station to report that he had received a bill from AT&T for a mobile phone account which included the purchase of a new phone. He said he had never had an account with AT&T and he did not purchase a new phone. It was purchased at a Walmart store. Police found the number attached to the phone is not in service, and they will continue to investigate.
Nov. 2, 8:39 a.m.: Police were called to a laundry mat on Waverley Avenue. Sometime overnight someone damaged a coin dispenser. It was ripped off the wall, and an undisclosed amount of coins were taken. Police are investigating.
