The 2019 champion of the Watertown Summer Basketball League took down the defending champ to claim the crown Thursday night.
HBC defeated New Day, 68-60, in game 2 of the Papas Elite finals, which was delayed a day due to weather. The league, which plays on the outdoor court at Saltonstall Park, features current and former college basketball players.
The top seed had dominated the league this season, losing only once in the regular season and once more in the playoffs.
In the O’Brien-Jerahian Legends League both semifinals series will go the distance.
After losing game one, Finnegan Club beat Kaos Club 57-50 on Thursday. In the other side the bracket, Johnson Club forced a game 3 with Control Club by winning 54-48.
Game 3 for both series will be played on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Finnegan Club and Kaos Club play at 6:30 p.m. and Johnson Club and Control Club at 7:25 p.m.
