The Watertown Summer League playoffs have been narrowed to the top two teams, and the finals begin next week.
Top seeded HBC will take on the third seed, New Day, in the Papas Elite League finals. The Watertown Summer League features current and former college basketball players.
HBC’s semifinal series against Zards went three games, after HBC lost for only the second time this season. HBC won Game 1 60-50, but dropped the second game by one point, 53-52. Thursday, HBC won a close Game 3, 57-53, to advance to the finals.
In the other semifinal, New Day swept Donohue’s Kaos Club. The first game finished 62-56 in New Day’s favor, and in Game 2 the team won by a larger margin, 68-58.
The best-of-three finals series begins Monday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. at Saltonstall Park, behind the Watertown Boys & Girls Club. Game 2 will be Aug. 20 at 8:30 p.m., and, if necessary, Game 3 will be played Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.
Also next week, the O’Brien-Jerahian Legends League semifinals begin.
Second seed Finnegan Club faces the third seed Kaos Club in the first game of the best-of-three series on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. At 7:25 p.m., top seeded Johnson Club faces fourth seeded Control Club.
Game 2 of both series will be held Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:25 p.m., and the third game, if necessary, would be on Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:25 p.m.
The Legends League finals will be Aug, 29, Sept. 3 and Sept. 5 (if necessary) at 7 p.m. each night.
