Summer reading at the Watertown Free Public Library begins soon! This year’s theme is A Universe of Stories, and we can’t wait to share our stellar book lists, reading challenges, and prizes with you.
The library offers summer reading programs for all ages, so whether you’re a fan of CatStronauts, Star Wars, or Stephen Hawking, we’re bound to have something that’s about your speed. And by the way, summer reading isn’t limited to space books! There’s a whole world (ocean? castle?) of stories waiting for you here, so just pick a program and take off. We’ll see you around the library.
Adult Summer Reading: A Universe of Stories | Begins 6/24
Journey to the great beyond, learn something new, or lose yourself in a riveting story with summer reading at WFPL! This year, our librarians have crafted five booklists to inspire your exploration. (This year’s themes include: Stellar Women,First Contact: Debut Authors, Space Colonization, Sun Over Shadow :Triumph Over Struggle, and To Boldly Go: Adventure.) As you read, simply tally your books on our bingo cards to win prizes along the way. Bingo cards will be available at the Reference Desk beginning on Monday, June 24.
For Teens: Summer Reading Challenge | 6/22 – 8/17
Read books, graphic novels, or listen to audiobooks to win prizes! Teens can participate in our summer reading challenge by creating their own goal and completing book receipts throughout the summer. Book receipts will be available starting June 22. On August 19, participating teens will be entered in a drawing to win one of our fabulous prizes: backpacks full of new books or a gift card from local and online stores!
For Children: Summer Reading Bingo | 6/17 – 8/31
Watertown Free Public Library is here to help keep your student on track with our annual Summer Reading Program, A Universe of Stories. Just like last year, we’re playing Bingo this summer! Bingo cards are available at the library beginning June 17 for students entering grades K-5. Our kickoff celebration is 10:15 AM on Saturday, June 22 with musician Jeremy Lyons!
