The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
May 6, 12:41 a.m.: A man already in custody for another matter took off all his clothes while in the holding cell at the Watertown Police Station. When a female police officer was checking on him, he committed a lewd act in front of her. Two male officers came in and asked him to put his underwear on. He refused to several times, but eventually complied. The 30-year-old Watertown man was arrested on a charge of open and gross lewdness.
May 6, 8:31 a.m.: An officer observing traffic on Dexter Avenue spotted a driver who was known by the officer to have a suspended license. The vehicle was pulled over and the 32-year-old Watertown man was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, a subsequent offense.
May 9, 8:09 a.m.: An officer noticed traffic backing up on Main Street near Church Street and saw a red Toyota SUV stopped on the eastbound side of the road. At the same time, a call came in for a man who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel on Main Street at Church Street. When police arrived they found the man asleep and the vehicle’s motor running, and in gear. An officer reached inside the vehicle, turn the engine off and removed the keys. Eventually they woke the driver and noticed signs of impairment, including droopy eyes and difficulty keeping them open. Officers also detected a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle, and found three cans of Reddi Whip whip cream on the floor. The man admitted using the Reddi Whip to get high off the gas inside. He failed four field sobriety tests. While his vehicle was being inventoried before towing, police found 6 oz. of marijuana, paraphernalia and five open packages of Suboxone strips for which he did not have a prescription. Police also found he did not have a license. The 37-year-old Lincoln man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, unlicensed driving, possession of a Class B drug, and inhaling toxic vapors.
May 10, 4:20 p.m.: A shoplifter was stopped by security at Target after being spotted taking the price tags off several items of clothing and then go through the self-checkout and scanned different price tags. She paid $35 for the items, but they were worth $128.03. The woman was also wearing a pair of sunglasses for which she didn’t pay. The 20-year-old Brighton woman was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by price tag tampering.
May 12, 8:49 p.m.: While investigating a disturbance at Watertown Mews, officers found one of the people had two warrants for his arrest. The 29-year-old Waterotwn man was arrested on the warrants, one from Westborough District Court for destruction of property under $200 and one from Worcester District Court for open and gross lewdness.
Incidents
May 8, 7:30 p.m.: A resident reported that he received an email from Best Buy about the purchase of a Macbook on a Best Buy credit card. The man did not have a Best Buy credit card, and went to the store to talk to the manager, who said the man who bought the computer with the card provided the resident’s date of birth, Social Security number, address and phone number. A freeze was put on the account. The suspect is described as a six-foot-tall African-American man, over 25 years of age. The Macbook cost $2,300, and the purchase was made between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. on May 8. Police are investigating.
May 12, 2:58 p.m.: A resident spotted a man looking in vehicles and trying their doors on Commonwealth Road. The witness asked the man what he was doing, and he said, “I’m trying doors.” Then he walked away. Police searched the area, but could not locate the suspect. They did find a vehicle which had a door ajar on Commonwealth Road, but nothing appeared to be missing. The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years old, wearing a red shirt and tan pants.
