The following information was provided by Boston West Fair Skies:

Boston West Fair Skies (BWFS) will hold a meeting Thursday May 23 in
Belmont.

BWFS works towards redistributing airplane noise more fairly among our
communities.

Thursday May 23
7:00 to 9:00. p.m.
Belmont Public Library
Assembly Room
336 Concord Ave., Belmont

We will discuss the current situation with 33L RNAV departures and
airplane noise.

We are a citizens grassroots organization which includes Arlington,
Belmont, Cambridge, Medford, Somerville, Watertown and Winchester – all
communities affected by the increased airplane noise due to the
implementation of 33L RNAV (using GPS) departures at Boston Logan
Airport. The meeting location rotates to different towns.

Please join us!  All are welcome!

  1. “Boston West Fair Skies”??? Do any of the members of this group ever travel by plane, and if so, when they are ascending up to 30,000 feet ever worry about those who are below them watching television or reading a book? Two days a week we hear the occasional jet overhead so what in hell is wrong with that? Don’t like the noise, move to upstate Vermont!

  2. Here in west Watertown it’s 4 days a week with planes flying over every 3 to 4 minutes sometimes starting at 5 in the morning until after 11 at night. The airplane noise exceeds safe dB levels and sets off car alarms and scares pets and wildlife. If massport and the FAA want to continue like this they need to soundproof our homes.
