The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
April 8, 10:40 a.m.: An officer monitoring traffic on North Beacon Street ran the plate of a vehicle and found that the owner had a warrant for his arrest. The vehicle was stopped and the officer confirmed the owner was driving. The 42-year-old Brockton man was arrested on the warrant from Quincy District Court for multiple motor vehicle violations.
April 8, 2:26 p.m.: A man was seen placing groceries into a reusable shopping bag at Stop & Shop on Watertown Street, and leaving the store without paying. He was stopped by security with $213.11. The 21-year-old Boston man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.
April 8, 8:09 p.m.: The license plate of a driver in Watertown Square was queried by an officer and it found the driver had an inspection sticker which expired in 2015. The 2004 Lincoln was pulled over and when the officer looked at the car he found a fraudulent 2019 inspection sticker. It appeared that the sticker had been photocopied and attached to the car. The 51-year-old Belmont man was arrested on the charge of forgery/misuse of an RMV document.
April 10, 7:50 a.m.: A man was causing a disturbance at the MBTA Bus Yard on Galen Street. He was arguing with an MBTA inspector after the inspector woke the man as he slept on a bus. When police arrived they found that the man had two warrants for his arrest. The 24-year-old Dorchester man was arrested on two warrants from Dorchester District Court, both for traffic offenses.
April 10, 6:04 p.m.: Police were called to Home Depot and found a man parking lot loading merchandise into a truck. When the officer questioned the man, he produced a receipt showing he had purchased nine pieces of lumber. However, police found he had eight boxes of tile, a hammer, and saw blades, as well as an extra piece of wood. The items were worth a total of $330.20. The 66-year-old Newton man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.
April 12, 5:56 p.m.: An officer on foot patrol on Melendy Avenue spotted a man driving a vehicle who was known to have a suspended license. The driver was stopped, and the 55-year-old Watertown man was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
April 13, 11:51 p.m.: An employee at the Super 8 motel called police after a man was causing a disturbance by yelling at another guest. When police arrived the man began running toward his room. Officers caught up with him, and he struggled when they tried to get him under control. He began yelling obscenities and insults at the officers. He continued to yell and would not control himself. The 41-year-old man from Danielson, Conn., was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resist arrest.
Incidents
April 10, 4:15 p.m.: A resident reviewed his bank account and discovered an unknown person charged $1,667 worth of Lyft rides. The man was advised to cancel his credit cards.
April 10, 6:18 p.m.: Two vehicles had their windows broken in the parking lot at 30 Manley Way, which is shared by Boston Rhythm and Launch Trampoline. One had its front passenger window smashed, and an Apple Mini laptop, Ray-Ban glasses, a checkbook, credit cards, and makeup were stolen. The second had the rear driver side window smashed, and two children’s school folders containing homework were taken. The owner said she believes they may have looked like wallets. Police are investigating.
April 12, 7:48 p.m.: A resident was told that a credit card was used at Best Buy to purchase a MacBook laptop worth $2,974.99. An attempt was made to use the card at Target for $486, but the card had been cancelled. The last time the person recalls seeing the card was at a restaurant in Waltham on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. Police are investigating.
April 13, 2:20 p.m.: The owner of a vehicle parked in an assigned spot on Carey Avenue found 12-inch scratch marks on the top of the trunk and on the passenger side of the vehicle.
