Night Tree with Sunniva Brynnel kicks off the 2019 Revels FRINGE Concert Series, January 26t in Watertown, MA
Experience the voices at the forefront of today’s music scene at three exciting concerts exploring the unpredictable edge of the folk process.
First up:
Night Tree, Saturday, January 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Night Tree is a popular roots-based band known for fusing a wide range of musical cultures – Irish, classical, jazz, Swedish folk, Klezmer, and Afro-Cuban. Night Tree features accordionist/singer Sunniva Brynnel, one of the stars of the 2018 Nordic-themed Christmas Revels.
Future Revels FRINGE Concerts:
Jake Blount & Libby Weitnauer, Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Appalachian music comes alive with the talented banjo player, fiddler and vocalist Jake Blount. Joined by virtuosic violinist Libby Weitnauer. Jake, an African-American musician, centers and venerates his racial and ethnic heritage through his approach to music and its history. Jake and Libby will hold you spellbound with their special take on the old songs of Appalachia.
Maeve Gilchrist, Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Making her triumphant return to Revels Fringe is harpist Maeve Gilchrist, “a phenomenal harp player who can make her instrument ring with purity.” Maeve performed at the first Revels Fringe event with Galician piper Carlos Nunez and has traveled the world collaborating with leading artists. Maeve’s innovative approach to her instrument stretches its harmonic limits and improvisational possibilities. Come see her in her new solo show!

All concerts will be held in the intimate setting of Fellowship Hall at the Belmont-Watertown UMC, 80 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown, MA.
