The latest concert to benefit Watertown’s sister city relationship will feature the gospel group Meeting Across the Water.
The concert will be Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. at the First Parish Church, 35 Church St. in Watertown. The Tremedal Concerts benefit the Watertown-El Salvador Sister City Project.
Meeting Across the Water is composed of four prominent musicians from the Boston area — Louise Grasmere, Fred Griffeth, Jonathan Singleton, and Eric Kilburn — who decided to get together to create memorable music that nourishes audience members on a deep level and provide sustenance beyond a night’s entertainment, according to the organizers.
The band’s music explores gospel music from the 1850s to the present, including black gospel street tunes from the mid-1900s and post-World War II music, along with band members’ original gospel tunes. The band’s music springs from band members’ deeply-held belief that African-American and white spiritual traditions can joyfully connect and share with each other.
Advanced tickets can be purchased on line for $15 (plus $1.52 service charge) by clicking here. They cost $20 at the door.
The Tremedal Concerts benefit the Watertown-El Salvador Sister City Project. Proceeds after expenses support the sister community of Nueva Esperanza, El Salvador, and regional projects in Chalatenango Province.
